The mission of the North Dakota Medical Association is to promote the health and well-being of the citizens of North Dakota and to provide leadership to the medical community.
The North Dakota Medical Association is affiliated with eleven District Medical Societies, comprised of NDMA members who participate in activities at the local level.
The legislative and policy-making body of the Association is the House of Delegates. The Delegates are elected by the District Medical Societies and meet annually in September to consider and adopt NDMA policies. Fourteen North Dakota medical specialty societies are also represented in the NDMA House of Delegates.
The executive body or board of directors of the North Dakota Medical Association is the Council, composed of Councillors elected by each of the District Medical Societies.
Much of the work and policy development of the Association is performed by five Commissions that make recommendations to the NDMA Council: Commission on Socio-Economics, Commission on Ethics, Commission on Legislation, Commission on Medical Education, and Commission on Medical Services and Public Relations. Throughout the year, these commissions meet to discuss a variety of topics of importance to North Dakota physicians and their patients.
